Social Values Policy

1. Introduction

Business Together Limited (company registration number 9593738), trading as BTLITC, is committed to delivering tangible social value through the way we operate and the services we provide. This policy sets out the principles we apply and the commitments we make to employees, clients, suppliers, and the communities in which we operate.

This policy aligns with the principles of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, Procurement Policy Note 06/20 (PPN 06/20), and the UK Government’s Social Value Model.

2. Our Approach

We believe that good business is inseparable from responsibility to the people and places around us. Our social value approach is woven through our decisions on employment, procurement, community engagement, and environmental impact. We measure what we do, publish our commitments, and hold ourselves to account.

3. Fighting Climate Change

We are committed, through the SME Climate Hub, to halve greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 and to achieve net zero by 2050 or sooner. This commitment is supported by our Carbon Reduction Policy and published carbon reduction plan.

4. Equal Opportunity and Fair Employment

We are an accredited Living Wage Employer and operate under the Good Business Charter, paying fair wages, providing safe working conditions, and supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy describes these commitments in detail. We actively support progression, training, and development across our team.

5. Community Engagement

BTLITC is rooted in the Watford community. We are a Watford Business Pledge member, a Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce member, and a Regional Partner of Watford Football Club. These commitments reflect our belief that local business has a responsibility to contribute to the community in which it operates. We support community initiatives, charitable programmes, and young people’s access to employment through the networks we are part of.

6. Supporting Local Economy and Skills

Where practical, we source goods and services from UK-based suppliers, with a preference for suppliers based in Hertfordshire and the wider South East. We provide opportunities for apprenticeships, internships, and early-career roles, and we work with education partners to support young people entering the technology sector.

7. Supporting Wellbeing

We take active steps to support the physical and mental wellbeing of our colleagues, including flexible and hybrid working, clear expectations about reasonable hours, and access to wellbeing resources. We work with clients and suppliers who share our values on wellbeing and fair treatment of staff.

8. Ethical Supply Chain

We conduct due diligence on our suppliers to ensure they meet our ethical expectations, including on fair employment, data protection, and environmental responsibility. Our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy describes our commitments against modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chain.

9. Governance and Measurement

The BTLITC leadership team is responsible for this policy and reviews it annually. Day-to-day ownership sits with the Operations Director. We measure our performance using indicators such as living wage coverage, apprenticeship and early-career hires, local spend, community contributions, and progress against our carbon reduction plan.
