Carbon Reduction Policy

1. Introduction

Business Together Limited (company registration number 9593738), trading as BTLITC, recognises that climate change is a serious global issue. We are committed to measuring, reporting, and reducing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and to playing our part in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

This policy describes our approach to carbon reduction, the scope of our commitment, and the actions we are taking to reduce our environmental impact.

2. Scope

This policy covers our UK operations and, where feasible, our wider value chain including supplier relationships and client engagements. It aligns with the principles of the UK Government’s Procurement Policy Note 06/21 (PPN 06/21) for Scope 1, Scope 2, and selected Scope 3 emissions, and supports our commitment as a member of the SME Climate Hub.

3. Our Commitments

• We have committed to the SME Climate Hub Climate Pledge to halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 and to achieve net zero by 2050 or sooner.
• We measure and publish a carbon reduction plan covering our emissions baseline, reduction targets, and the actions we are taking to achieve them.
• We seek to use renewable energy for our office, cloud services, and hosted digital infrastructure wherever possible.
• We actively work with suppliers to understand and reduce emissions across our value chain.

4. Measurement and Reporting

We collect emissions data annually using recognised methodologies and tools, covering energy consumption, business travel, waste, and cloud and digital infrastructure. Our carbon reduction plan and baseline are updated annually and made available on request. Where we supply public sector clients that require it, we provide documentation aligned to PPN 06/21.

5. Operational Actions

Our ongoing actions include:

• Prioritising suppliers with credible environmental credentials, including hosting our website on infrastructure verified by the Green Web Foundation.
• Implementing hybrid and remote working practices that reduce commuting emissions while maintaining collaboration quality.
• Minimising unnecessary business travel and preferring low-carbon modes of travel where travel is required.
• Reducing electricity consumption through efficient hardware, cloud rightsizing, and energy-efficient office practices.
• Working with clients to design IT solutions that optimise energy use, including cloud architectures, endpoint management, and efficient on-premise AI platforms.

6. Engagement and Training

We raise awareness across our team of the actions we are taking and the role every colleague plays in meeting our climate commitments. We incorporate environmental considerations into procurement, engineering, and project management decisions as standard practice.

7. Governance

The BTLITC leadership team is responsible for this policy, including target setting, annual review, and public reporting. Day-to-day ownership sits with the Operations Director, supported by service line leaders.
