Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

1. Introduction

Business Together Limited (company registration number 9593738), trading as BTLITC, is committed to being an inclusive employer and business partner. We believe that diverse teams make better decisions, deliver better outcomes, and reflect the communities we serve. This policy sets out our commitments on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

2. Legal Framework

This policy is informed by the Equality Act 2010 and supports our obligations to prevent discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. It is also aligned with UK data protection legislation and our wider ethical commitments.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers. It covers all aspects of our employment practices including recruitment, compensation, training, promotion, performance management, and termination. It also applies to our interactions with clients, partners, and the wider community.

4. Our Commitments

  • We provide equal access to employment, training, development, and progression opportunities on merit, free from discrimination.
  • We actively promote a working environment that is inclusive, respectful, and free from bullying or harassment.
  • We pay fair wages, meeting or exceeding the real Living Wage across our UK workforce as an accredited Living Wage Employer.
  • We design recruitment processes to reduce bias, including structured interviews, diverse shortlists where possible, and objective assessment criteria.
  • We make reasonable adjustments to support colleagues with disabilities or long-term health conditions, and we encourage open conversations about what individuals need to succeed.
  • We seek to support and develop talent from under-represented backgrounds, including through community engagement and the Watford Business Pledge.

5. Responsibilities

Every colleague shares responsibility for upholding this policy. Managers have additional responsibility for modelling inclusive behaviour, ensuring fair treatment within their teams, and acting promptly on any concerns raised.

6. Raising Concerns

Any colleague who believes they have been subject to discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment is encouraged to raise the matter with their manager, a member of the leadership team, or via [email protected]. Concerns will be handled confidentially and without retaliation.

7. Training and Awareness

All colleagues receive induction covering our EDI commitments, with ongoing refresher content and guidance as required. Managers receive additional training on inclusive leadership, recruitment, and handling concerns.

8. Governance and Review

The BTLITC leadership team is responsible for this policy and reviews it annually. Day-to-day ownership sits with the Operations Director. We measure the effectiveness of this policy through engagement feedback, recruitment data, and representation across the organisation.
